The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, reveal which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific hosting provider for your domain name is the most convenient way to point it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, so if you want to modify some of these records, you are going to be able to do it by using their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the Internet domain you are attempting to access. In this way the web site that you will see is going to be retrieved from the right location. The name servers typically have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain has at least two NS records. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider is going to use depends entirely on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

If you use a Linux cloud hosting from our us and you register a new domain in the account or transfer an existing one from a different provider, you'll be able to handle its NS records with ease through the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, provided with all shared accounts. You are able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain or even for many domain names at a time with several mouse clicks. This is done via the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to control your domain name even if it's the first one you've ever registered. It requires simply a mouse click to see what name servers a domain name uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to direct a domain name to the hosting space on our end and with only a couple of clicks more you will even be able to register private name servers for any of the domains that you own. For the latter option you can use the IPs of each and every provider that you'd like the new NS records to point to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you register a new domain address inside a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar company, you're going to be able to update its NS records as needed without any issues even if you have not had a domain of your own before. The process takes a few clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly administration tool, provided with our semi-dedicated packages. If you have many domains in the account, you're going to be able to update all of them at once, which can save you quite a lot of time and mouse clicks. Also you can see with ease the name servers that a domain address uses and if they are the proper ones or not in order for the domain to be directed to the account that you have on our innovative cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will permit you to set up private name servers under any domain address registered in the account and use them not just for that domain name, but also for every other one that you intend to point to our cloud platform.
